'08 F150 starts and runs but dies.

Asked by A_C_E_S Sep 13, 2014 at 01:21 PM about the 2008 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After nearly 1000 bucks and a mechanic and the Ford service center my truck still won't run for any length of time. I can start it and take off but almost immediately it slowly sputters till it dies, I can start it immediately after that and it will run for a few seconds and die again. Mechanic put a new fuel pump and fuel filter, Ford dealer Service department changed some other part claiming that was it. I'm about to the point of crashing it for the insurance money!

If all the work was performed at a Ford Service Center I would take it back and demand money be returned or fix it correctly. Sounds like what they are doing is what shade-tree mechanics do, begin changing parts in hopes of shotgunning the problem. If there is any problem with the management, contact Ford. When they get involved sometimes things get accomplished.
