What modifications would I need to do to fit a 8.4L Dodge Viper engine in a 2008 Dodge Dakota?

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 2008 Dodge Dakota SXT 3.7L V6 with a 4-speed automatic and I want to make an
engine swap the 8.4L Dodge Viper engine and the 6-speed transmission. Currently this
truck is stock except for a K&N intake system that I put on it. It is planned to upgrade the
brakes and suspension before the engine goes in. If you could give any sort of pricing or
ideas on how to make this work it would be very appreciated.

To my knowledge, this has never been done, although there was a concept truck built by dodge called the sidewinder that was viper powered. Nothing will be compatible. Complete custom install. your best bet is to find a donor car for parts. I would plan on this costing over $15k to do.

Your way better off to go with a 5.7-61hemi with a 8 seed auto from a newer 1500 way easier and cheaper

Budget around $40k for your conversion. Less for a death trap Mickey Mouse job.

Anything is possible I've seen and been a part of way crazier projects then that! It will take some time and a lot of research to do it right. It can be done way cheep if you do all the fabrication your self...or if you have the money to order custom parts like wiring harnesses and bracket kits and such they can make it a lot easier for you. A good friend of mine put A viper motor and 6 speed in a chrysler 300 lol so go for it! Good luck!
