2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Shifter Wont shift out of park

Asked by Guru96SC3G Oct 22, 2022 at 02:43 PM about the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had an intermittent issue with the shifter not shifting out of park.  For a
while I have been using the Shifter Release button, but the problem is much
more frequent now.  Is there an interlock or selenoid under the dash that could
be causing issues?  Also Fob hasn't been working for two years.

The shift lock release button is there for emergency uses not as a fix. You could have some bent linkage or a faulty shift interlock solenoid as you mentioned. It's best to have a mechanic diagnose it. You can also have them reprogram your key fob or just replace the battery in it.
