where is the cam sensor on a 2008 dodge caravan 3.3 flex fuel?

Asked by A. Nov 03, 2024 at 12:53 PM about the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've been scouring the web, asking chatbots, and everything else, and I haven't
been able to locate it. What I need is a good, solid picture of it. I've tried tracing
the wires, exposed the fuel rail, and basically torn the top of the engine apart,
trying to find it to no avail. Can anyone help?

I suggest you buy a factory replacement first, so you know what it looks like. The cam sensor is an easy change per the instructions in the Dodge, Haynes, or Chilton Manuals. However, many of the instructions that you will see posted for the crank sensor say that you need to put the car on jack stands and replace the sensor from underneath. It is a little hard to get out this way. On the 3.3L this is not necessary. All you have to do is remove the rubber and plastic parts of the air intake and the top of the air filter housing and the sensor connector and bolt can be reached from above without having to raise the car. If you take the top of the air filter housing off, obviously you want to remove the filter and vacuum out the housing before reinstalling it when finished. You will need a 3/8" drive socket wrench with a 6" or 9" extension and probably a socket U-joint.
