Scraping noise

Asked by Kelsey Jun 02, 2019 at 04:18 PM about the 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Nissan started making a humming sound last
week, I thought it was the wheel baring so I took it
to a car garage. The guy said it was the sturts so I
replaced them both last night and now it’s making
an even worse noise. Like a scraping metal sound,
you can feel it when you press on the gas. Sounds
like it’s coming from the front drivers side. Anyone
know what is going on?

Possibly a hung up caliper? I had the same metal scraping sound, car pulled to that side, and it felt like tranny was slipping because the caliper was engaged. Vibration throughout the entire car. Thought it was going to fall apart. I also had a bad rear control arm with issues of it's own. So far, my Altima has been a nightmare. But check your brakes.
