What makes the engine die when I turn on the a/c on my 2008 Nissan Altima?

The a/c had not been blowing cool air. i was going to add freon to see if it would help. Didn't get around to it yet. A coouple of days ago I turned the a/c on again and the engine died just like you turned the egnition off. Does the same thing when driving on the road, not like it is idling and stalls. Could it be the compressor has gone bad and seized up? Any help?

Get the a/c motor checked n ur fans altimas are very bad wen it comes to this subject they constantly will give out if u dont fix the problem I had an 03 n it didnt blow out hot air it was weird put a computer to get the codes

Sorry for such a long wait before I answered. internet has been down. the a/c fan will blow with accesory on and engine not running. the engine dies when running and a/c is turned on

Hey Tim check this out. My son was driving down the high way last week with his 2006 Nissan Altima and all off a sudden the car over heat and just cut off. He try to start the car but it would not start. The car was towed back to the house and I tryed to start it and it did start. But cut off after about two minutes. What do u think is the problem?
