p0420 on Nissan Altima 2.5S 2008

Asked by Rock May 09, 2018 at 02:59 PM about the 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had an engine noise coming out from my Altima for almost 6 months but my
car mechanic told me to ignore it as long as vehicle noise doesent bother
me. After around 6 months, once i was running low on fuel but still had
around 1 gallon left in vehicle and engine light came ON. Autozone guy told
me that it was P0420 which is nothing but the issue with the catalytic
converter. Was engine noise the reason because of faulty cat converter or it
can be due to the running low on fuel caused it.

Your noise is inside the Cat...broken meltdown inside.... not reduced the exhaust gases ... telling the O2s that it's not functioning PO420 code.New Cat converter needed....
