light strip above rear cargo doors

Asked by Dennis Mar 02, 2019 at 01:25 PM about the 2008 MINI Cooper Clubman S FWD

Question type: General

There is what appears to be an LED strip light recessed above the rear doors. It
is factory, not aftermarket. I have tried everything I can think of to find a switch,
or an automatic "ON". No luck. Can't even find it mentioned in the manual or on
forums. Please help. Thanks

Really? Nobody? Am I the only one who has one of these lights?

I’ve noticed the light strip in photos of Mini Coopers on craigslist Portland (OR) listings. I’ve noticed that not all models of the same year have them...

It is the third brake light. It comes on when you apply the brakes.
