Keep in mind though that the routine car and maintenance will come at a higher price than something like a Nissan Murano or Subaru Forester. Also, according to Consumer Reports, reliability has been well below average for the 2008 Land Rover Sport that they tested. If you're prepared financially for that...then full speed ahead, I guess. The Mileage is acceptable for a 2008 as Tom stated earlier...how many miles more? With the proper "funding", you should be able to make it last well over 100k and beyond.
Just as a side note, a friend of mine had one of these and averaged 11 mpg city/hwy until it got traded for a mercedes.
To Michael's point, this bad boy weighs in at 5,500 lbs (the big old 4.4L V8 obviously contributes to this) and this will hurt your fuel economy and acceleration a LOT. It does have 300 HP, so it won't be a slug...but pickup will be adequate at best, IMO.
The biggest problem I have noted with the moe recent Range Rovers is the quality of the interior and trim. The silver has a tnedency to scratch very easily and the door arm rests and padding are known to deteriorate and crumble. I was very surprised especially based on the cost of these vehicles. I did have a friend tell me that BMW has the same problem and it could e a holdover from the days that BMW owned Rover and the suppliers they contracted with. In any event, I would check the interior very closely. Mechanically, I agree that with proper maintanence they should easily last 200m miles if you cna afford the gas.
