Engine
460 cu in (7.5 L) V8 (385 family) 365 BHP

I was told by a friend mechanic that has worked on ford cars his whole life, and he says the bell housing on the transmission is different than any other he's seen.

There is a place in Minnesota that makes adapter kits to allow the mechanical AOD out of any V8 Ford from the mid to late 80s bolt right up to that engine. Actually they make various kits to allow the AOD to bolt up to almost any Ford V-8. When you do the conversion, make sure you keep your kick down rod, as that will be needed to keep things working right. It may need adjustment, especially the one at the bottom, but it will work just fine.
