2009 Toyota Burning too much gas

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2009 Toyota Burning too much gas....I drove less than 25 miles and it
emptied a full tank of gas. When I drive it feels like I have to press the
acceleration pedal more than usual to get the car to accelerate. I feel as if I am
halfway to the floor to get the car to 35mph. It feels as if I have to force more
gas to go 35mph.

You shouldn't have drove it like that , If it wasn't a major problem it may be now , Hopefully there's a mechanic you can trust to have it fixed
Any warning lights on or flashing when the engine is running? Pull the engine oil dipstick. Does the oil smell like gasoline? Get back to us with results.
My first thought is your gas gauge is not accurate. Or someone siphoned gas out of your tank. Buy a locking gas cap. Lack of power can be caused by a few things. Clogged or damaged exhaust system that restricts the exhaust flow. Needing a tune up. If the engine is shaking and the check engine light is flashing the engine is misfiring. Retarded (late) ignition timing caused by a bad knock sensor. Retarded valve timing caused by a worn timing chain, if equipped, or a worn timing belt tensioner. Faulty ignition coils and or ignition control module. Hope that helps! Jim
