2009 toyota camry xle v6 hard starting when engine hot 81K miles

First....pull the engine oil dip stick. Does it smell like gasoline? Next time you experience a hard start....press the accelerator pedal down 1/2 way. Any difference? Get back with results.
Thanks. No gas smell on oil dipstick. Starts perfectly when cold. Hard starting when hot is intermittent. If successful with accelerator test, does that indicate a fuel pump issue? I just don't want to get ripped off on unnecessary repairs at dealership.
The accelerator test is to check for a dirty throttle body. Special equipment is needed to test the Fuel Pump. Indeed the FP could be the root cause of the issue. Try this. Get a piece of cardboard to lay on. Thd next time the engine fails to start....apply the park brake with the vehicle in park...ignition key on....go to the rear of the vehicle....ge down and under....and SMACK the bottom of the Fuel Tank with the palm of your hand. See if she will start. Otherwise...its off to the repair place for a FP Pressure test..
Thanks for the email update Tony. The engine never totally fails to start, just takes a few more cranks than normal. Can cleaning the throttle body be a DIY project?
