Cooling system

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Water pump had a leak. So I changed water pump and
thermostat and truck still overheats just above 3/4, then I
just shut it off . Was told by some guy that if oil has not
been changed it can be part of this problem. I really need
help thank you

Has nothing to do with the oil or when it has been changed. Look at other cooling system solutions. First thing would be making sure there is no trapped air in the system and it is full to the line in the reservoir. Next would be to check the operation of the cooling fans at the radiator. Last, but not as likely, is that the radiator is not flowing coolant properly or the thermostat was put in backwards.
I did change the oil. But I think the real problem was that there was air in the system. Truck has worked well. Just FYI for Acadia owners your oil life does reflect the cooling of your engine, so when oil is good truck runs good. Keep up with maintenance and it will be good.. Thanks for your help

I have an 09 Acadia, back in July ran hot took it to the dealer had a warranty, he replaced the fans and seemed to work fine, today it started to run a little warn around 235ish , fans seemed to be working, no water in oil , but the reservoir was low added coolant , should I try burping the system? When I shut it off this morning at work it made a gurgling sound but was at 210, but when I got home after a 45 mile drive it was at 235 , but it ran at 210 when driving on the way home.
