Tire Size

40

Asked by Mahmoud Dec 27, 2015 at 03:33 PM about the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Car Customization

My car's default tire size is 185/60 R14. And I have
seen another car similar to mine with 195/55.
Could this be possible? Or Changing tire size might
harm the car?

The 195's will be slightly wider and very slightly shorter but not significantly. I see no problem at all.

one size up or down is only recomended..you should be fine

185/65-14 diameter is 23.47" -- 195/55-14 is 22.44" You will slightly lower all gear ratios, but not to the extent it will be a problem, your engine will run a little bit faster to maintain the same speed.

Will this improve the stability of the car a little ? I also heard this gives false speed calculations, is this true ?

Ok, I mistakenly put in 185/65 instead of 185/60 as stock. But anyway, 195/55-14 Sorry 'bout that' But still, they are close. Your speedometer will show 60mph at at true 59. Not to worry. And as for stability, you will not lose any stability, nor gain. It's only a 1.3% difference
