drained oil started car like a fool car shut off after about 45 seconds

Asked by willcan Jan 19, 2014 at 09:53 PM about the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS

Question type: General

i drained my oil and like an idiot i started it to get it off the ramps, it shut off after about 45 seconds to a minute. i was wondering if any serious damage was done. i was able to start it up again afterwards with no weird sounds being made.i also heard that newer cars were built with low pressure oil shut down mechanisms, not sure if thats true or its just the engine stalling. i have a 09 lancer gts 2.4 L

I would be checking the bearings if I were you I cant see running for any length of time not damaging the bearings and thee last thing you want is metal shavings in your oil system as that will cause a spun bearing
