Changed battery but light came back on

I changed my battery to my 2009 Chevy Malibu
because the light came on and  the lights started
going dem and my car started cutting off, but also
after I changed the battery the battery light came
back on? Why would that light come back on and
stay on?

The alternator or related wiring may be the problem. Get the alternator tested.
