2009 Lincoln mks the fan came on and the temperature gage went all the way to hot I revved the engine then it calmed down what could be the problem I just had general 86000 mile maintenance

Check the anti freeze level in the over flow tank.
What type of antifreeze? I always thought they used a specific type and they told me they topped off all the fluids?! Thanks

Not sure on that vehicle but you can look in the owners manual if you have one or ask the parts store where you are getting the anti freeze from what is the recommended for your vehicle. But I think it is Dex Cool.
