PONTIAC OUT OF BUSINESS?? WHAT ABOUT REPAIRS, ETC IF I BUY ONE?

Asked by motoxk716 Oct 06, 2011 at 11:23 PM about the 2009 Pontiac G6 GXP

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am interested in purchasing a 2009 Pontiac G6 (the premium sedan model) fpr about $18k.....but Pontiac is not in business anymore, and if I remember correctly - Pontiac was under GMC.....My question is should I even consider purchasing a vehicle at that price (with $53k miles) when Pontiac is NLIB?

I'm not a car guru at all so if some serious mechanical issues came about, I wouldn't be able to fix it myself & just want to be reassured that if I make this purchase, there will be more ways I can get assistance rather than "oh we're out of business, shoulda done your research"...

HELP! THANK YOU :)

Pontiac is no different than any other GM product. Parts and service are available. In fact, it'll be easier to fix that most imports. More important is your mechanics competence. Pontiac was simply another division of GM so "out of business" means nothing. They are great cars for the dollar.

I work at a GM dealership that previously sold Pontiacs alongside Buick,GMC Truck and Cadillac. We still service them on a daily basis and parts are plentiful through GM and the aftermarket. Many were sold and still are quite popular. I've repaired several in the last few months in our collision dept. Those parts were readily available as well. Go for it! Good luck with any purchase you make.
