what is the traction control button for

I have a button on the middle console that is traction control. What is it for?

you push the button to shut off the traction control- you only need to shut it off if you get it stuck and need to rock the car out- traction control would prevent you from rocking it- otherwise, leave it on because it stops the front wheels from spinning.
