traction control

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Guys, I am still having problem with my 2009 Buick lucerne traction control.
Buick dealership told me that it is because of my check engine light that is
on due to a bad fuel pump. My mechanic changed the fuel pump however
the fuel pump gauge is not working right now. The engine light is still on
because of the fuel pump.  Now the tie pressure continue showing different
readings even after the tie shop had put air in them. The traction control
light tend to  come on when I make a left turn, or drive over a bump  not
when I make a right turn. It also causes the engine power to reduce.
Turning the traction control switch off does not help. Need help

From your description I suspect a problem wheel speed sensor. Have your mechanic look for ABS codes. Your car may have other problems but this is probably the case of the traction control light.

Tire pressures change due to temperature and of course air leaks.

First jack up the car and check to make sure you have no play in the wheel bearing. The sensor is built into the wheel bearing. Play in the wheel bearing can cause an erratic reading. Also remember to check the spare tire in the spare tire the trunk if it has one. It also has a sensor that could also set a code for the car. Remember the fuel pump and the fuel pump and the fuel gauge sensor is sll one unit in the gas tank. Some cars now have an access plate in the trunk so you dont have to drop the fuel tank. Good luck.
