This may be of help to you...it's not specific to the Torrent, but the concept is similar on many cars: http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=UqxUhwDxCxk -------OR-------- Try this..not the Torrent, but since it's the Pontiac Vibe, it's likely the same procedure: http://www.ehow.com/how_7226020_replace-plate_s-light-pontiac- vibe.html

Shawnnei, On page 5-49 of the Owners Manual there are directions on how to replace the License Plate Lamp. License Plate Lamp To replace one of these bulbs: 1. Remove the two screws holding each of the license plate lamps to the liftgate handle. 2. Turn and pull the license plate lamp down through the liftgate opening. 3. Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise and pull the bulb straight out of the socket. 4. Push the new bulb in and turn clockwise to lock into place. 5. Push and turn the license plate lamp up through the liftgate opening. 6. Reinstall the two screws holding the license plate lamp to the liftgate handle. Well...guess that GM Customer Service Dept. trumped my answer by a long shot..lol.
I have an 07. What if the bolts are rusted and can't get them out?
@Jeni, I had to drill the plastic piece off after trying many things to remove the screws. When they rust over they bond with the clear plastic. I am currently trying to find a new way to cover the bulbs since the clear covers are no longer available.
@Jeni keep repeatedly brushing them with alternating between something acidic like lemon juice or vinegar & olive oil, coconut oil WD40. A little of all of these at a time goes a long long way so don't over do it & don't get it anywhere you want it. The acid will break up the corrosion & the oil will loosen the screws/bolts. This worked likea charm for me when my tail light screws were rusted on. It's not instant & take several applications over several days but it will work. Once you get the screws off be sure to clean up the rust & lubricate with oil before you put the screws back in to prevent the likelihood of them getting rusted back on again.
