How do I remove the inside trunk lid handle 2009 Cadillac CTS

I have the water in trunk lid problem and the dealer wants $240 just to
"diagnose" the problem.  I'm going to remove the lid liner and inspect and
silicone seal rear badge, license plate bolt holes, and third tail-light edges.  
I popped all the plastic trim tabs but the handle is on solid and I can't figure
out how to remove it safely. There are two plastic squares that could have
trim tabs or screws/bolts underneath, I'm not sure, but the covering plastic
is flush with the handle without a pry gap.

I found that the two little plastic squares on the trunk lid handle have very small slots for prying open, with two ratchet bolts/screws underneath. I removed those and removed the lid liner. Using a long depth 10mm socket I removed the screws for the deck lid brake light, and put a bead around every hole and gasket. I also put a bead on every hole for: the rear badge, rear chrome trim, and two license plate bolts. So far so good, will update if it didn't do the job.
