For this vehicle, you should ask if the engine is original and have the compression checked after having the oil drained and refilled. Same with the transmission and differential only have these done by a mechanic that specializes in those components. Also ask to see any repair records that the owner has and ask if any are missing and where most repairs have been done to it. Remember, it is a 30 year old car you are buying. My 91 Pontiac has almost as many miles and has had only minor work done on it (things do wear out). Original engine (5L V8), orig trans and diff (5 spd trans / posi traction rear),and has had an oil change every 5K miles. I expect it to last 'til it hits at least 50 years old. .

depends on how well maintained it is. could go maybe another 50k before needing a engine and or trans.

Unless you're getting it cheap, don't buy it. This vehicle has already exceeded its expected life expectancy! Jim
