2009 FORD ESCAPE 3.0 STARTER RUNS CONTINUOUSLY

Asked by Jim Jul 31, 2016 at 02:08 PM about the 2009 Ford Escape Limited V6 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced my starter, starter relay, ignition switch and ignition tumbler
and still have issues with the starter staying engaged. There seems to be a
constant clicking noise from behind the steering wheel and beneath the
transmission gear shifter. Is it possible that the SBJ is damaged (Located on
passenger side floor)?

With so many parts changed it makes it harder to diagnose the real issue. Have a starter circuit voltage drop test done. If you're in the University of Michigan, area I'll do it for free.

I'm having same problem with my 2010 ford escape, It start but won't disengage, and won't stop, even I turn off the engine and remove the key, almost burn my car till I removed the battery cable. I replace the starter now is working fine but this afternoon, the starter continues runing , after the engine start, then stop when i turned off the car, restart and work fine... The previous starter, was always sliding without engaging and starting the engine Any idea please? Any idea?
