ford 2009 escape cap less fuel tank I cannot get the flap door open go fill the tank

I have a 2009 ford escape cap less fuel tank.  I cannot get the flap door open to put gas into the tank.  Please help (it is the right gas nozzle)

If there's no release inside the car, try pushing on the gas fill door. Some are spring loaded and will pop open. To close, just push it and it should stay closed.

On the gas can there is a pull thing but I can not get it open but the person I’m using it from said it was inside the car to open it but I can’t find the button on the 2009 Ford Escape please help
