Strange noise under rear of 2009 Escape just after turning vehicle off.

Asked by migration_Mcarney Mar 08, 2016 at 08:20 AM about the 2009 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: General

Intermittently, just after turning off the
ignition on my 2009 Escape, I will hear a
noise from under the rear end that sounds
almost like pressure being released (air
slowly being let out of balloon) then a thud
sound follows this. Lasts no more than 5 to
10 seconds and doesn't occur every time I
turn off the car. Can you help me?

U might have air ride suspension I had that on my expedition once u shut vehicle of it releases pressure kinda like air brakes on a 18 wheeler once u push in air brakes it releases pressure same idea

Thank you. I'll look into that to see if I have air suspension. It was concerning because I have not noticed it every time I turn ignition off.
