all electrical connections should be clean and tight , is it the starter that clicks ? if it does it probably ain't the starter relay

Had the exact same problem with my 09 Fusion. All relays checked, fuel pump fine, starter fine, in the shop 2x and could not replicate problem. Finally took out back seat to expose fuel pump access and found a wire that was corroded and loose connection- cleaned it out put dielectric grease on it, seems problem is finally solved! Moisture seems to build up in there causing this problem.

I just solved this issue by recharging my battery for about 45 minutes. I thought it was that starter because all the lights came on and it sounded like the starter solenoid wasn't engaging right. After it still didn't start I put a Multimeter on the battery WITH the jump pack still hooked up, and it was only reading about 5 volts. I left the jump pack hooked up and ran an extension cord to it so that it charged continually, and that worked. The LESSON learned here is that the car can still light up with a drained battery.

Mine was a drained battery, was working on trailer lights and went to start the car and it sounded like the solenoid was going in but not starting, so I hooked a jump pack to it and it started
