Unidentified After Market Wires?

Can someone identify these connected
wires?? Looks like aftermarket??

That is what I thought. There is a hitch on it - I bought the escape over a year ago. But I isn't it unusual for the wiring to be anywhere but in back?? Some of the wiring comes from the engine into the cabin under the steering column above the pedals.
