Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 4 by 4 it
started about a week ago check engine light
flashed I had the code ran said misfire on cylinder
4 so I figured it might be the plugs wires or coil
packs replaced all the wires and plugs swapping
coil packs after the wires and plugs replacement
didn't work and the code followed the coil pack
swap so I clear the code swapped it again and it
followed it once more so I figured it was a coil
pack replace the bad cylinders coil pack and still
nothing put some additive in with some premium
fuel in case of a bad injector and still nothing it
idles really rough almost dies smokes while it's
idling and driving the smoke is white or gray any
ideas I'm going crazy

Did you ever find out what was wrong with your truck? I also have an 09 1500 5.3. With a misfire in #5. Done all the normal stuff took it to two different mechanics can’t figure it out. I’m starting to suspect it’s a simple air leak due to a bad Intake gasket or a bad 02 sensor. However, if it was a bad sensor I would assume the misfire would be random not only #5. I was told by one mechanic that it may be carbon build up but there was no Carbon bike up on top of the valve so it would have to only be underneath which I haven’t checked yet. The coolant level is good and stayed consistent. Another note is that I think it only misfires in idle because it seems to run fine when I’m driving.
