2009 Chevy Silverado Z71 5.3L Throttle Body Issue

Asked by Alfredo Mar 15, 2017 at 09:45 AM about the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Cleaned my throttle body with CRC throttle body cleaner. Turn it on and it revs up to 3000 RPM. Tried doing the relearn procedure I've seen on the internet with leaving it on in park for 3 minutes, shutting it off for 60 seconds and then turning it back on for 3 minutes. No change. Tried putting it in drive and driving it around to relearn and it will not go in D or R. Tried disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes and repeating everything and still the same. Then bought a new throttle body and installed it. Same thing. What is going on?

You'll have to check the wires at the plugin that goes into the Throttle Positioning Sensor. They like to break under the insulation. You may have to replace the connector. Gently pull on the wires at the connector, they should be solid. If there is a broke wire it will stretch indicating a broke wire.

I’m having the exact same issue. Did you ever get yours resolved, and if so, what was the problem?
