Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is it OK to use the underhood auxiliary positive terminal and a nut under the hood to hook up a trickle charger?  I don't want to have to take out the cabin filter to get at the battery box

Yes. it is much easier, than digging for your battery..I see no adverse affects, whenever I use this certain post-for jump-starting,and charging..

I don’t take my14 SLK350 out when roads have salt on them as I have other vehicles and using the remote port is a godsend to keep your settings and the battery in top condition. I previously had a XK8 Jaguar and did the same with great results.
