When my car is in C (comfort) mode, the gas feels more

Yes, that is very nice indeed. The C or Comfort mode is up until 2018 the default for the MB automatic transmission, with the Sport mode the car will NOT accelerate faster, the computer tells the suspension to shift to a more rigid ride, this is why you feel that the car has less power. Step on the gas hard and you will see that the car really moves. I have owned Mercedes-Benz for several years, have a 2017 C300 now and my favorite drive mode is E for ECONOMY!

Just to be clear, regardless of what you feel, in a 2009, Comfort mode will start in second gear, upshift later and downshift later than in Sport mode.. In C, you'll reverse in 2nd, although few humans can tell the difference. Only the transmission is affected by the C/S button

The exact same way the transmission and drive modes worked in my 2010, 2012, 2014 and now in the 2017 E300 I drive.

C is comfort transmission starts in second. S is sport transmission starts in first also delays shifting to next gear. Throttle response is quicker
