Ignition module or ignition switch

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
What is a ignition module for a 2009 Chevy
trailblazer? And is it the same as a ignition switch? I
tried to look it up online but got confusing answers.
I’m looking for a video on how to change it.

ignition module is inside the steering column and hard to repair... it does fail about that age and intermittently starts. hope you know a skilled mechanic. also might have a anitheft device too.. see if any codes are stored before any work.
Hello, the ignition switch/ignition module (same) is a black box on the underside of the steering wheel column. Note, it's not the part the key goes into. It's very common for those to go out on our platform, I even keep a spare with me. Do yourself a favor and buy only AC Delco for electronics, otherwise, you risk failure on the new aftermarket part. There are plenty of vids on the "tube" on how to change it.
