How do I activate the 4x4 feature on a 2005 Four Escape XLT?

Asked by ABSlape2015 Dec 13, 2020 at 01:09 PM about the 2005 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Ford Escape XLT (V6). It says it is a 4x4.
I am assuming that is a four wheel drive because I know my car is not all wheel
drive.

The car is actually AWD, not 4WD regardless of what the badge says. The AWD is automatic, there is nothing you can do. If it is not AWD it is FWD. Look for the rear differential.
