Ford Escape 2005 battery and alternator failure

Asked by Michelle Jul 12, 2021 at 05:13 PM about the 2005 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an '05 Escape XLT 3 ltr, V-6 FWD.  Replaced the battery, have had 3
new alternators installed and the car runs at 11-12 for a couple miles, then the
voltage jumps to 18.  My mechanic can't find any melted or fused wires in
charging system. It's been in the shop for over a month.  Any ideas?

Check the battery ground wire where it comes off the black wire on the battery to the other end
