front axle nuts and all around them are real rusty,almost looks like something corrosive got on them.is this normal or what could be wrong?

Most front axle nuts do acquire a coating of rust, but "real rusty" is hard to define. I'd take a wire brush and clean them up, then a light coat of grease and call it good.
