My alternator should the bed on
my Ford Escape XLT how hard is it
to fix and what kind of alternator
do I need?

First, take it to ur local auto parts store and they will verify that the alternator is bad. If you're doing it yourself, it's not that difficult and alternator will be less that $100 at the auto parts unless you want to buy it at the dealer. Call and find out how much it costs.

Youtube has some videos. Most remove it from underneath, but there is a way to snake it up through the back of the engine by the firewall with some patience.
