09 2.7L overheats at times, smell coolant, coolant levels low (after putting in coolant) and heater does not blow warm... thinking heater core and a coolant flush. How much do you think?

First of all you can't get an estimate until you know the problem. Is there coolant on the ground? Is there coolant inside the car? Open the hood and check your oil for foaming ... looks emulsified..Look inside the radiator .. does the coolant look clean after the engine is started? and finally .... turn your defrosters on ,,, is there a residue on the windshield?

One last thing they say it doesn't matter any more but different coolants and brands and types should not be mixed will cause chemical interactions play it safe.

Thank you. I will keep you all informed as to what's going on. Also any idea how much it cost to repair heater core? I no dealer parts is only roughly 130 but labor I'm guessing is ridiculous since it is in dash

Your problem could be as simple as a bad radiator cap or cap not properly on. It would cause everything you listed even the 0300 misfire when coolant gets on and it plug wires

Cars now at shop just waiting for them to call and let us know why it's overheating and why coolant isn't staying in. We already replace cap, thermostat, water housing etc. So now just a waiting game.... too be continued!

For people who don't yet know dodge built these chargers with inferior engines.

I ve got an 09 2.7 ive changed the water pump thermostat. Ni leaks and im still iver hearing any ideas

Teejay0406 unfortunately I had to get rid of my baby,, come to find out it was a blown headgasket,, I first got it fixed cost me $2000,, exactly a year later it started to over heat again so I just traded her in.. Good looking car but horrible engine

Where is the thermostat located on this engine?
