COLLECTIBLE CARS- Are they worth the investment?
Asked by Mark Nov 24, 2015 at 02:21 PM about the 2009 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Spec. B AWD
Question type: General
Are there any collectible Subaru cars out there ? Or any car for that matter?
When you consider the price, maintenance, insurance and everything else,
the return on your investment is not particularly good, unless you've
purchased a vehicle with a special provenance like say a car Paul Newman
once owned? By the way, I've listed below this special edition 2009 Legacy
2.5 GT1, I don't own this car. Just wanted to start a dialog on this subject.

I can't imagine there are too many Subaru's that are collectible. Some of the really old oddball cars are a curiosity but I doubt they are worth much. Notable race cars with a history and documentation would definitely be collectible. With collectible cars desirability and rarity determine the value.
Look at number 9 on this list.http://www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/hagertys-10-most- collectible-cars-of-2015.html/?a=viewall
The link does not work but I found it anyway. I have found that predictions of collectability of new cars are almost always wrong. Sort of like those visions of the future that Popular Science puts out! No doubt a nice car though.

Maybe the FRS will continue to sell so poorly that they'll be odd semi-collectibles, but I doubt it. Deleting AWD was a serious mistake, as competing with the likes of the delightful new Miata shows.

My legacy 2005 GT wagon still clocks 4.9 seconds 0-60, beats my mustang GTs and still looks current, good looks do not go out of style. I only wish I kept my volvo 122s, 68 mustang GT, porsche 356, Ducati 350 desmo, and a few other vehicles that all ended up being extremely valuable. . .
