Airbags are monitored and controlled by a central unit which acts automatically, occupants cannot turn air bags on and off. The passenger’s occupancy sensor is a weight-sensitive element that noticed if you have more than a certain amount of weight in the front passenger’s seat. This is so people who put their babies in the front seat don’t have the airbag deploy right into the back of their infant’s head during a crash. If there is no weight on the seat, a warning may appear indicating that the airbag is off, but the moment a person seats it is on again. If the warning is always on, check the system as this element may need replacing.

My doctor said I needed it off (passenger) - just had heart surgery. There needs to be an option in the future. Jim
