Should I change transmission fluids for 2009 Ford Explorer XLT?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I just bought a 2009 Ford Explorer XLT with
136,000 miles. My uncle checked out my SUV and
told me my transmission fluid was probably never
changed previously, and said that it would be
beneficial to get it changed soon, but when I
inquired at Flynn's, a service representative told me
that they don't do "tranny flushes" for vehicles over
100,000 miles. Apparently he thinks that the fluid
change would cause more harm than good. But I
also went to another auto repair shop, and the
representative there told me that my transmission
fluids were currently fine, but if I wanted to keep
the transmission in good working order, I should
change the fluids. I'm getting so confused by all
the different opinions. Should I get my
transmission fluids changed?

No no no no no. I'll tell you why over time your trans gets coated with slug that slug help keeps the seals sealed. When you flush it with that many miles it cleans the slug and the seals can leak. My uncle has owned alot of cars and he used to change the trans fluid when the car had over 100000 miles on them then he would have alot of problems with it. So he stopped changing it if the car had over 100000 miles on it never had much probles with it after that. He still changed the filter but don't get it flushed. I flushed my mom's Buick and a week later the trains went out. It had 97000 miles.my edvice is change the filter you will lose 4 or 5 gt of fluid then fill it back up with recamended fluid but put a gt of Lucas trans additive in it that will make your trans last a long time.
I agree with every Noadd said except for using Lucas transmission fix, what it does its swell the seals to help prevent leaks and then it starts to deteriorate them so its only good if you're trying to limp a car along as you drive it into the ground. My friend was in an aeronautical program at university and told me these were the results of his experiment with Lucas stop leak. Take that for what you will
My truck has had lucas in for the last 5 years put 75000 miles on it it's fine. Not saying your wrong I'm definitely not an expert on Lucas just my experience. I've used it since it came out and never had a problem except my mom's Buick witch I never put Lucas in it.
Glad I could help thank you.
I'm no expert on it either but from what ive been told the regular Lucas additive (oil treatment) is fine, it's the Transmission fix, steering stop leak and engine stop leak that are killers of seals
They may be rite I Gus's use it at your own digression. I've had good luck with it but you might not it's up to you.
