Well, there is a screen under the oil pressure sending unit that gets gummed up. That screen is blocking the oil pressure to the oil sending unit and shutting the engine down. It thinks there is low oil pressure. That screen needs to come out and be cleaned or replaced. Then you'll be fine.
I havw cleaned the screen, pressure starts up at about 40 then as heats up within 30 minutes of running it begins to drop to nothing . Turn off and restart at close ro 40 then wirhin a minute, right back to stop engine no oil pressure
Would this be the 5.3L engine? I would verify the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge first to see if this condition actually exist. If the oil pressure gauge shows the same thing, some of the 5.3L engines have an oil pump issue and would need to be changed out.

Any update on this? I have the v-6 and I’m getting the low oil pressure turn off engine display as well. Is the sensor and the filter an easy change or do I need to take apart part of the engine to get to it? Sorry I’m learning to do the repairs myself so don’t give me a hard time for asking.
What oil filter are you using? Make sure the oil filters back flow is not rubber.

Have changed out oil sending units and screen filter 3 or 4 times. 08 Silverado 1500 crew cab 4x4 M code 5.3L .The afm system lifters broke twice last time got rid of afm all together putting in a brian tooley stage 2 truck cam, non afm lifters, new springs, rebuilding heads, reprogrammed computer removing afm, replacing the oil pump and rebuilt whole top end and cleaning out oilpan checking for thought maybe oil gunk but was clean bottom end and top end, runs better than ever lots more hp. But just the other day oil sending unit out agian. Both front cats went out about a year ago. Rear end went out first time pinion stripped out at 45000 gm rebuilt it. Second time rear end went out axle bearings inter and outer went out because gm dealer repair first time didnt clean debris out of housing so totally rebuilt myself second time at 110000 200000 now still good. At 37000 the dash cracked in two places dealer refused to fix for free wanted 1000 to fix so now its about to fall in floor. Seat springs broke on drivers seat at 41000 dealer also refused to fix still that way. Every door window switch has gone out. 3 doors had electric locks go out. Rear window electric sliding glass went out. All 4 main speakers went out. And hardly anything did the dealer stand behind. My last brand new Chevrolet anything!!!
The oil pressure sensor and screen filter under it is located behind the intake manifold right in front of the fire wall. Not a fun place to get to. Will need 1and a 16th deepwell socket, a 1" extension , 3/8 swivel , a 6 to 8 inch extension also. Then a dentist pick to remove screen filter
@GuruHZRF5 - I have the same model truck as you, with very similar issues. If you don't mind, I'd love to pick your brain via phone. Let me know.
I change the oil pump on my 2000 Silverado 1500 four-wheel drive 5.3 clean the engine oil pan out clean the pickup tube screen everything's clean I put new oil in and still have no oil pressure and the motor starts to make a tick so I shut it off when I prime the engine from the block I have oil pressure for a few seconds and then it falls back to nothing it's like it's not pulling the oil from the oil pan
My GF is a mechanic and has fixed this problem 3 times in the past month. Drop the oil pan and replace the O-ring in the oil pick up tube. This has fixed it every time.

I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado new body style and I bought it brand new and 07 and from the very first oil change I've used Valvoline Max light and never have had a problem with the oil and 14 years I recently needed oil change badly so I stopped at one of the quick lube places I can't remember which but they did not have Valvoline Max life so I used a different brand and from almost that day forward every time I get on it and accelerate in RPMs I get the engine oil pressure stop engine error code so I highly recommend we're high mileage vehicles that you go with Valvoline maxlife on mileage after you clean out the screen oil pump sending unit and change your oil.
