Then, when that happened to me, I went back into the dealership service department and they admitted that I did return and report the air bag light but they did not know how much it would cost to fix until I sign a work order starting at no less than $2,000. I took it to the other Dodge Dealer and they fixed it for $1850. I went to Small Claims Court and settled out of court for $750. I was surprised that they took it as far as they did. I've dealt with this Service Dept for 40 years.

Sorry to hear that you're having this issue with your Sierra, I would also recommend having your dealership diagnose what's going on. As this is a safety related concern. Vanessa GM Customer Service

Well Vanessa, this will be the LAST GMC I ever buy. The best advertising is word - of - mouth. As I;ve had nothing but problems with this vehicle since I purchased it, that has cured me of any Gmc vehicles in the future.

Same here, no more GMC or Chevy HHR. Both have been nothing but problems and now the new recall on my HHR.

4/2/17 Just recently purchased a 2010 GM Sierra. My Service Airbag light came on a few days ago. After reading several columns online, checked and found the driver side carpet wet under the mat. Let it dry? Hope it can be reset?

Hey Vanessa @ GM, I called my dealer and they wan $169 to diagnose the problem, they claim there isn’t a problem or a recall? If you check online there are multiple bull items and many recalls do other brands. And face it all air bags come from the same factory, step up GM and do the right thing.

I have 2007 chevy 1500, I have had the service air bag light since I bought the truck new, been to the dealer ship at least five times to try and fix it, They never did. It works then it does not work back and forth, This truck has been a lemon since the day it was new. Mutable problems with the front end. Never GM again

In my personal problem with a 2009 GMC Sierra it was one of the sensors behind the front bumper that went bad, I used a good code reader to diagnose the problem. Thanks

How do you service an air bag? Add more air? Why doesn’t it just say replace air bag, and kiss $2000.00 goodbye!

This post might be responding to an older thread, but I hope it can still prove useful to someone out there. I too experienced the airbag light issue with my GMC and endeavored to fix it on my own, only to realize that my efforts were futile. I decided to broaden my search for potential solutions, and stumbled upon an article titled "GMC Airbag Light" on the YOUCANIC website. This article led me to inspect the clock spring of my vehicle, which was frequently causing problems with my horn and other steering wheel controls. On close inspection, I noticed that the wires within the clock spring were damaged, a result of years of wear and tear. Subsequently, I replaced it and, to my relief, the airbag light extinguished after a few drives. I highly endorse the YOUCANIC website as a valuable resource. It was instrumental in resolving my issue and I believe it could be just as beneficial to others facing the same problem.
