Honda won't stay on

Asked by 09Honda Aug 19, 2016 at 08:47 PM about the 2009 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I crank the ignition. It turns on for 2 seconds and
would shut off. After that it would just crank and
won't start. I do have the green key showing on the
dashboard. Does it have to do anything with that?

It sounds fuel related to me . Turn key on not starting . Fuel pump should bring fuel up to pressure. You can hear this happen. Then start while checking fuel pressure . Then check ground wire if it doesn't keep running. Remember you must have fuel and spark at the right time. If this doesn't fix you have a intermittent spark problem. Do to the fact it starts work on fuel. Fuel pump relay. Or grind wire rusted

The green key on the dash is it on all the time while cranking the car? If it is that is a problem with the immobilizer system for the Anti-Theft. You could have a problem in the ignition lock cylinder or the key chips could have a problem.

Did you ever figure this out? My Honda is currently doing this.... most of the lights on the dash come on, put in a new battery and it does the same thing. Put in a new battery in the key fab and now it won't get completely started. All the lights still coming on.
