how can I make the seat in the honda fit 2009 comfortable? please help the pedal and seat

Asked by meristone14 Apr 28, 2009 at 09:04 AM about the 2009 Honda Fit Sport

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

The foot pedal is 5 inches fromt eh ground - the seat design
is not working - the depth is 20 inches which is terrific as the 19inch seats don't give enough thigh suppot - but this is not allowing the thigh to rest either - the hamstring and calf are getting pulled, the pelvis is rotated back straining the heck out of the ligaments.
Poorly designed - the 2009 civic has the same deal - in regards to putting too much pressure on the driver's sacrum and tailbone -
why did they change the seats? I have had 4 other ones without an issue.
The cuv's don't provide enough depth to the seats creating pain in the thigh
any suggestions in a new car? I have to trade this one in - I can't drive it .

I concur. I have an '08 Fit and the seats are downright horrible. Granted I'm 6'3" and these cars probably weren't designed for someone of my height, but more seat adjustments would help. The seat cushions are way too short and provide little support for people with longer legs. I'd consider getting some aftermarket seats, but I'd lose the seat airbags.

Have you tried seat pillows? I sit in mine pretty comfortably, maybe it's the way you are driving? If you aren't sitting straight forward in a proper position it might put pressure on uncomfortable areas. You can adjust the steering wheel also (it telescopes as I'm sure you know) maybe that will help. If not, go to the dealer you bought it at, if it's a quality Honda dealer, they will help you out no matter what.

I agree also and it's no better in the 2009. I'm only 5'5" but if I reide in my wife's Fit for more than 10 minutes my back hurts. She's also disappointed. Can these seats be replaced?

I don't know if there's any answer for Fit seats besides sell the car or Recaro's. Honda should be ashamed of themselves for ever using these crude torture thrones.

I agree, I have a 2008 Honda Fit and it is a great car sans these terrible seats. I’m currently looking to see if a later year will swap in??
