2009Ford Edge Worth?

Asked by Catron5 Feb 10, 2020 at 02:24 PM about the 2009 Ford Edge SEL

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I have a 2009 Ford Edge SEL with 136,700 miles on it. The
motor is currently knocking, so it will have to be replaced. I
have another car, but am wanting to sell this one. Is asking
$3,500 too much? Besides the motor, the car is in great
shape inside & out. I have close to $8,500 in the car and
only drove it for right at 4years. Technically I still owe
$4,000 on it bc I took out student loans in order to buy it &
my student loans are far from being paid off. Thanks!

It's a good price, hopefully someone in your area would wanna buy it to repair or replace engine themselves, plus they'll be low balling anyway.

Seriously @F_O_R?!?! The car is in fantastic condition inside & out. No rust, no dents, no paint fading, only thing is a motor. Which, where I live we can get one for $500 & then have someome with a local garage put it in at most $1,500 and that's on the high end. Bc if the motor knocking, I chose fair condition. And the body itself, transmission, interior is worth more than $1,000

Seriously. If you really think you can install another engine for $2,000 you should go for it. Put it up for sale at your price but eventually you will be forced to sell it cheap. I tell it like it is, not what people want to hear. Good luck.

Step back and ask yourself what you would pay for an old car with a lot of miles that you cannot drive.

I agree with FOR. Retail is currently around $6500, but if you want the max amount of money for the vehicle, fix or replace the engine, then sell it. The money you put into a vehicle you won't recoup. Plus no one wants a fixer upper the days. Post on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Try listing for $3500, but be expected to be lowballed. You can try trading it in on another vehicle and might get more for it, maybe $4K. Good Luck.

I just bought an 09 Ford edge from Scarborough Ontario with 197,000 on it no rust anywhere limited addition V6 full sunroof leather interior clean it needed front wheel bearings pads and rotors all around and we are stabilizer kit and I paid $1800 for it for the gentleman to get it repaired on his own it probably would’ve cost him two grand worth of parts and labour so figure that out in the cars meant
