Whining noise

Asked by LovinDave Jun 07, 2018 at 09:22 AM about the 2009 Toyota Yaris Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2009 Toyota Yaris. I bought it new right off the lot. Just recently I have
had heard whining noises while driving. I have had the serpentine belt changed
out. I honestly think it is possibly a brake issue as the car tends to whine louder
as I accelerate and gets lower as I slow down. The car also feels as if it is
weaving a little as I accelerate on the highway as well.

Weaving could be tie-rod ends. Whining, unfortunately, could be tranny related. An alignment shop can look at the brakes/suspension/steering, then do an alignment if it's needed. A mechanic or tranny shop should look for the source of the whine.
