Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have ac problem, when i turn on the car and turn
on the ac; it works for 10min..then disconnect. .
Then 1 min on then 1 min off for 15 min.. then no
cold air.... it cut off..

I took the truck to dodge dealer.. they said it might
be one of the inside ac motors has problem!! And
to fix this problem they should remove the WHOLE
dash board!!!!!!

They tested the compressor.  And the ac switch..
they r well

They said its on of the inside ac small motors has
problem..

My question is that the solutation for this case!! To
remove the WHOLE dash !! Isnt there any other way
to fix this problem!! Do you have any idea about
this problem! !

Idont think the problem is in the  ac motors since
they work.for 10 min!!

I need expert person in dodge ram HVAC to reply
pls

What do you think ? Is it right? The ac motora
inside is the problem!!!!

What if they remove the whole dash!!! Of they
reinstall it again.. will it look the same?  Or it will
become loose or weak with kocking sounds in
future?

Pls guys only dodge ram experta reply with respect
to all

Ahmad, First make sure you have enough refrigerant in the system, if you are short the system will turn on and off as you described. You will need a set of gauges to check the pressure. the pressure will be different depending on the outside temp, here is a chart. http://acprocold.com/faq/r-134a-system-pressure-chart/

Is the blower on and off. It might be the blower motor resister that controls the fan speeds. 100.00 easy to change

Not the blower. Its the cold air .. the fan works but the cold air goes after 10 min of turning on the car and ac

Have the same issue here with my 2009 Ram 1500...Dealer couldn't fix, another mechanic couldn't fix. System is properly charged with refrigerant (verified and re-verified many times). AC will run sometimes when the ambient temp is in the 70's....when the weather gets hot (80's- 90's) I might get 5 minutes of cool air then nothing but hot air. Compressor runs initially but then never kicks on again. Truck as 250K+ on it, so I am not about to spend $1000+ having some mechanic rip the dash apart.

Interesting follow on - last night it rained pretty good and the temperature dropped into the low 70's - AC work flawlessly at this temperature, so I am convinced that a sensor somewhere is causing the problems when the ambient temp is high

I was told it’s the tipm on my 2010 ram 1500 hemi but I’m skeptical because every morning the ac works for 5 min then off then on and off then done. I’m going to replace the clutch and coil and see if that fixes it. Otherwise I’m thinking there’s a blockage and overnight enough refrigerant gets to where it needs to until it starts being pumped around. Any ideas on this?
