Question type: Car Customization

I wanna put a new muffler on my 09 Impreza, its just a 2.5i and I wanna keep the
classic Subaru sound, I don't want it to sound like those stupid high pitched honda
civics out there. Any suggestions?

i have the hks hi-power. nice low rumble and the classic scooby sound. all depends on what sound you're looking for though

ya, I love the sound of the classic subaru engine, and the hks seems to compliment it the best, thanks.

I just put on a catless Tanabe turboback and I love it. Its quiet compared to my old TXS RFL but sounds sweet at open throttle.

and on my 07 i had a skunk2 turboback, changed it out with the borla xr1... went from the 4.25 tip to dual 2.5's, way more of a mellow sound with still the boxer sound

you wont get any classic subaru sound, you have equal legnth headers on your 2.5i. The sound comes from the unequal legnth manifold design on the turbocharged models.

I would suggest the Cobb Tuning exhaust it looks stock and doesn't sound like a ricer. It actually is one of the only good exhausts that provides more power.

If you are just going for a cat-back or axle-back your best bet is Cobb, Perrin or a half dozen other good quality exhausts that would work great. Stay away from TXS RFL and similar large, angled and LOUD exhaust systems. Personally I would go with Cobb but I am biased since Im running their engine management and they fixed my ECU for free when it died due to a bad flash on a V1 Accessport. I do have a full Tanabe catless turboback system and its still much quieter than my TXS axle-back I used to have. It also is a much better fit and finish than the TXS and no 5" melon shooter exhaust tip either! Im leaving the loud stuff for younger guys who like that, I got sick of it and now Im Stg2 Cobb AP V2 and much happier and mt car is much faster too!

You guys cant read. He does not have a wrx or sti. Neither Cobb or Perrin make an exhaust for the car that he drives.
