Why did Car Gurus falsely advertise a car?

Asked by Shajid Nov 30, 2024 at 11:39 AM about the 2009 BMW 3 Series 335i Sedan RWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Through Car Gurus I recently bought 2009 BMW from Chantilly Auto Sales.
The part of the add under "Additional Information"  said that it had heated
seats. Well. it doesn't. The dealership said that they did not put that
information on your website about the car. They said that it is additional
information that you put there and any "misleading" that was done was done
by CarGurus. What will you do about this?

This section is for people with car repair questions. This is also why we recommend that you have a shop check it over before purchase so you can avoid problems like this. You need to contact someone in advertising sections.

Cargurus is an advertising site only. It's the selling Dealer who posts the ads and is responsible for their content, not Cargurus. Those "additional information" parts of the ad should be ignored. Most of the time they're just a copy and paste of information from the manufacturer from years ago when the vehicle was new talking about what options were available at the time. Let this be a lesson to you. Always look at any vehicle, new or used, in person or have it inspected by a professional inspection company before you decide to buy it! That way you know it has the features you want! Jim
